A friend when healing is needed
A child in the throes of a nightmare is unaware of his safe and peaceful surroundings. But the loving touch of a parent wakes him.
Overwhelmed by fear and sickness, we may be unaware of the divine help that is readily available. Or we may plead to God. But pleading tends to blind us to the presence of His outstretched hand, because such prayer flows from doubt.
Christ Jesus rebuked doubt. He told people not to be afraid. Knowing God to be the ever-present, ever-watchful Father of all, Jesus was able to break the fear of disease for countless others. He showed them that man is God's child, not created to wallow in fear and sickness but lovingly formed to glorify God—to reflect Life and its harmony, Soul and its sinless spiritual beauty. He showed them that the creator of all is truly our best friend. Those Jesus healed caught wonderful glimpses of what a disciple later put into words—that "God is love." John 4:8;
