Stifling Explosive Feelings

The Christ is a redeeming power in human consciousness. It is a saving presence that extinguishes fiery, mortal feelings. It quenches inflamed materialistic thought. Each of us has the inherent ability to respond to the Christ and maintain a settled, poised quality of thought. Even in the face of provocation, a very natural and unruffled composure can be ours. A calm and stable attitude grows out of an understanding of our relationship with God. Serenity and stillness, rooted in spiritual sense, choke out the explosive claims of erring mortal mind and defuse its little bombs.

Undisturbed peace is an attribute of God, Soul. The Christ reveals to receptive thought this ever-present, all-embracing peace of Soul. It is our love for Soul that outweighs the beliefs of anger and fear. The Psalmist could sing, "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them."  Ps. 119:165;

Some suppose that the only answer to hostile, emotional feelings is an attempt to hold them back, perhaps with the use of willpower or even drugs. A different line of reasoning is to let off the steam rather than keeping anger, resentment, or envy bottled up.
