True Substance

Reasoning from cause to effect, from God, divine Mind, to His creation, we discover that all is Mind and that man is the manifestation of this Mind. Since this infinity of Mind is everywhere present, and since Mind is Spirit, the allness of Spirit precludes the possibility of a counterfeit substance named matter. The only substance there is or ever can be is Spirit. Actually, there is no material substance anywhere, because there's no room for matter in the allness of Spirit, God. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says: "Substance is that which is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. Truth, Life, and Love are substance, as the Scriptures use this word in Hebrews: 'The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' Spirit, the synonym of Mind, Soul, or God, is the only real substance." Science and Health, p. 468;

The lie about Life is that it can be material. Life is Spirit, God, the All-presence and All-power of the universe. There can be no death in this allness of Life, God. And there can be no substance except that which is Spirit, Soul. Science and Health tells us: "Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man." ibid., p. 393;

In the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, recorded in the book of Daniel, "Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon." Dan. 3:1 (According to Moffatt's translation this statue was ninety feet high and nine feet broad.) All were commanded to bow down and worship the golden image at the sound of certain musical instruments. The stern warning was that anyone who didn't bow down to the golden image would be thrown into a fiery furnace.
