Every day we hear of the need for food, jobs, and health

Every day we hear of the need for food, jobs, and health. My needs have been met increasingly for the past forty years through the spiritualization of thought that we learn in Christian Science. I have begun to realize what Mrs. Eddy means in this statement in Science and Health (p. 259): "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration."

My first healing in Christian Science came when as a young boy I was healed through the prayer of an aunt of a difficulty in walking. She had asked my mother if she could help me. She gave me a Sentinel to read, which explained to me that God is Love and divine Principle, and that I was a child of God. The healing was quick and permanent.

Through a marriage I was drawn away from Science. Our two sons were in their early teens when my wife left me and the boys. Again I turned to Christian Science, and our needs were met. We had help of a Christian Science practitioner. I learned to cook and care for a house while holding a job. It was a joyful experience, and the family responded beautifully. There was no animosity from the divorce, and the boys maintained a good relationship with their mother.
