The Highest Standard of Living
Is there need today for better understanding of what a higher standard of living really means? History shows that material benefits alone have never brought lasting happiness to anyone. Something more basic is needed for improved living. It is the recognition that the highest possible standard of living—the true standard—is spiritual!
To the individual seeking a better job or better home conditions, Christian Science explains the importance of first gaining a correct understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him. This spiritually scientific understanding does not require scholastic proficiency, but it does demand sincere study of the Bible and of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
As an individual learns to know God as his creator, he recognizes what really constitutes a better, more satisfying way of life. He does so by measuring his motives, acts, opportunities, and relationships by a divine standard, which in turn raises his human standard. He finds his real need is for increased spirituality, not materiality.
