In August 1915, I purchased my first copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I had heard Christian Science could heal like Jesus did, and I thought I would find out by reading the book. My study began while I was a teen-ager, and I am grateful that my parents did not object to this study but were helped by it. To this day I am still studying and seeking the truth to be a good student of Christian Science.

My first healing was of an ankle I had injured while playing with schoolchildren. I was their young teacher, living on a homestead thirty-five miles from town. We had no telephone. Before retiring I filled my thought with good by reading a much-used copy of a Christian Science lecture. I also read healings found in Science and Health in the chapter on Fruitage. Sometime in the night I heard a crack of the anklebone, and in the morning all pain and swelling were gone.

In my early years as a student of Christian Science I had another healing, that of tonsillitis, solely by studying Science and Health. This healing, too, has proved to be permanent.
