Since coming into the study of Christian Science I have had...
Since coming into the study of Christian Science I have had little need for physical healing. A confident sense of the allness of God, good, together with the perfection of man as God's image and likeness, invariably met my need. Occasional pains and aches were healed very quickly. But one day I had a very severe cough.
After three weeks with no results from my own prayerful study, I asked for treatment by a Christian Science practitioner. In spite of our daily contact, which was helping to spiritualize my thought, there was no change in the physical condition. I could not lie down, and slept with my head on my arms on a table.
One day the practitioner called my attention to the subject of mental anatomy as explained in this passage in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 462): "Anatomy, when conceived of spiritually, is mental self-knowledge, and consists in the dissection of thoughts to discover their quality, quantity, and origin."
