One Essential to Quick Healing

As far as we can tell by reading the Gospels, the healings brought about by Christ Jesus were virtually instantaneous. "He laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God," Luke 13:13; records Luke in referring to a typical example of healing by the Master—in this instance of a woman who had been "bowed together" with infirmity for eighteen years.

Today, as they strive to follow the example of their Way-shower, Christian Scientists long to see similar quick healings consistently taking place as a result of their prayers. Indeed, they know that one of the great needs of the day is to prove the curative power of Christ to be as immediate now as it was in Jesus' time. Mary Baker Eddy says, "Less teaching and good healing is to-day the acme of 'well done;' a healing that is not guesswork,—chronic recovery ebbing and flowing,—but instantaneous cure." And she adds, "This absolute demonstration of Science must be revived." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 355;

Many who have experienced or witnessed a quick healing through Christian Science—and there are thousands who have—do not doubt the possibility of meeting this demand for more evidence of the absolute, immediate power of Truth to destroy disease. Often they vividly remember the healings they have already had or observed. They continue to feel inspired by them as the disciples were by the marvelous cures brought about before their eyes by Christ Jesus. They usually long to duplicate more regularly today his miraculous work for the benefit of others, and to this end they may read and reread the gospel accounts of the Master's teaching and example.
