It Only Takes Light

In the window of my office there is a plant with lovely foliage, putting out new leaves almost every day. It is healthy, productive, and beautiful to look at. But this is in direct contrast to its appearance a few months ago. Then it was the sorry possessor of but one lone leaf, and for some time it had been in this state.

What made the difference? Simply moving the plant to the windowsill where it could benefit from the sunlight. Nothing else was done for it. The pot and its soil were not changed; the watering schedule stayed the same. All it took was the addition of light to make a sad specimen into a bloomer.

When human beings are influenced by the dark beliefs of apathy and indifference, fear and chronic sickness, they need light—what Mrs. Eddy calls "the sunlight of Truth." In Science and Health she says: "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth."
