What's the World Coming To?

The material world is always changing. Whether the changes are for the better or not is a subject for constant philosophizing. And the time and manner of its climax and end have long been questioned at different levels of thought. The Bible prophecies, variously interpreted, have led many to believe that the world's last days should have come to pass long ago. But still it endures. What can we now expect?

When the twelve disciples asked Christ Jesus when the end of the world should come, the Master intimated that he did not know at what time on the calendar this event would be. But he explained that one might recognize from the signs of the times when it was approaching, because a great stir up of all the world's conditions from the climatic to the political would precede the last trump.

The Master warned his disciples of great times of tribulation and distress to come. He actually specified certain abominations, desolations, and sufferings he foresaw would swamp humanity. But he told them that when these troublesome events occurred they would "see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." And he said, "When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." Luke 21:27, 28;
