The Economy of Spirit
There is something that can be done about the economy. We can know the truth. Working and praying to know the spiritual fact that counteracts the material fable, we can establish for ourselves and help to establish for all a right sense of supply, opportunity, and orderly existence. Christian Science teaches how this can be done. Truth is ever available in every age to heal and reverse the error that argues, "These are difficult times."
Economy includes concepts of management, stewardship, regulation. It concerns itself with the direction and proper functioning of various organized systems. It also is defined as the creator's plan, the designs of Providence. In speaking of the effects of a Christian Science treatment, Mrs. Eddy uses the word "economy" as follows: "Both Science and consciousness are now at work in the economy of being according to the law of Mind, which ultimately asserts its absolute supremacy." Science and Health, p. 423;
The economy of Spirit is expressed not as a limited, physical, mortal world of matter but as the purely unlimited, metaphysical world of conscious Mind. In this spiritually mental world, all is harmony and order. To realize that intelligent control is vested in divine Principle, Love, frees men of false responsibility for, and fear of, an economy that can be or is out of control.
