Abundance

Mortals seem to be created in a state of limitation. They believe they have only limited wealth, health, happiness. But God's reflection, the real man, was created in exactly the opposite condition. He was created in a state of spiritual plenty. Man can never run out of health, of Love's ever-presence, of substance, of joy, and he knows it. The man of God's creating knows no limitation of any kind because he reflects the Mind that knows the infinitude of being.

The individual who realizes that God, Spirit, is the limitless source of man's sustenance, and demonstrates it in some degree, finds his needs abundantly satisfied. Human belief is prone to attribute such well-being to material factors alone, saying it can come only through a gift, an inheritance, or by chance. But it is a great joy to understand through the study of Christian Science that the man God created has always enjoyed abundance, and we can realize this through study and prayer.

Christ Jesus tells us: "Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? ... But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt. 6:31, 33; How can we prove the practicality of the Master's promise? We first have to realize that we're not actually living on a material basis and trying to demonstrate having more matter. We have to turn our gaze to heaven, to the universal realm of Spirit where man dwells only as a spiritual reflection, never as a material personage. We then have to see that this reflection includes now all of the qualities of Spirit, God, and that each quality is ever present and inexhaustible, for each is infinite in nature.
