My first major healing in Christian Science was that of acute appendicitis, the symptoms being the same as were diagnosed some years earlier by a medical doctor. I made my way down three flights of stairs in the college dormitory and phoned a Christian Science practitioner for help. That same evening I was able to enjoy the freshman hayride with complete freedom.
A number of years ago, because of a tragedy in our family, I became extremely hateful toward someone. As this hatred persisted I found my fingers becoming painfully crippled. I was unable to carry even the slightest weight, and my activities as a kindergarten teacher were hampered. Soon it was uncovered in my thought that I needed to love more as Christ Jesus taught, and to forgive the one whom I had been resenting. Growth in spiritual understanding of my true status as a child of God, divine Love, came when I felt a deep and loving compassion. By the end of the semester I was completely healed. I had grown to love the man of God's creating! Such is the power of prayer!
Throughout the sixty-six years of being a student of Christian Science I am most grateful for every proof of God's presence. How grateful I am for class instruction, for membership in The Mother Church, and for a busy, dedicated life in a branch church. The blessings of Christian Science are beyond compare! A very deep appreciation for Mrs. Eddy is best expressed in striving to be more loving, faithful, and obedient to her teachings.
