True Psychology
Throughout history men have sought ways to alleviate suffering. Though their motivations have usually been noble, the methods used have fallen far short of bringing a complete solution to mental and physical distress.
Modern psychology has taken innovative and far-reaching steps in diagnosing many human difficulties. Peering into the world of the human mind, it has addressed itself to some important, fundamental questions about this mind.
Mrs. Eddy touches on psychology in her writings, but her references to it indicate something far different than the investigation and analysis of human behavior with all its supposed mortal cause-and-effect relationships. She says: "The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science, as would be readily seen, if psychology, or the Science of Spirit, God, was understood. Unscientific methods are finding their dead level. Limited to matter by their own law, what have they of the advantages of Mind and immortality?" Science and Health, p. 369;
