The first time I witnessed Christian Science healing was when our daughter was two years old. She had climbed up on the gate and fallen, hitting her head on the concrete driveway. As my husband and I drove her to the emergency hospital I prayed to God, whom I had always known to be a loving God, to save the child.

After a discussion with her pediatrician X rays were taken. We were told to take her home and watch her carefully through the night, as she might slip into unconsciousness. In that case, we were to call the doctor immediately.

The next day the pediatrician called to say the X rays revealed a fracture of the skull. He seemed distressed as he told me there was nothing he could do for her. My instructions were to keep her quiet and bring her in to see him in five days. Feeling very helpless to relieve our daughter's discomfort, I decided to call upon my neighbor, who a few weeks earlier had introduced me to Christian Science through a lecture. She knew I had been searching for the truth of God and life for many agonizing years.
