As a teen-ager I was dissatisfied with my way of thinking and prayed often to be shown how to find the truth which Christ Jesus said would make us free.
Although I was a member of an orthodox Protestant church, I searched into various schools of religious thought, including spiritualism and theosophy, but none of these answered my questions. I prayed, asking God to reveal to me the truth which I knew must exist, and to help me recognize this truth when it came. I always felt confident that a right answer to this prayer would come.
One of my Sunday School teachers told me it was wrong to ask so many questions that could not be answered. To my question about the healing works of Jesus, I was told these healings belonged to a time now ended, and that it was presumptuous to be so persistent in my questions.
