"Truth is affirmative"

When sickness or some other form of discord arises, the first inclination of a student of Christian Science may be to deny that it possesses reality, place, or power. And this is a right and proper procedure. It tends to allay fear and increase our responsiveness to the government of God, divine Principle.

We need to be watchful, however, that we do not become so involved with our denials that we neglect to affirm spiritual truths applicable to the situation. Otherwise we may find ourselves regarding the discord, or error, as an entity, and the results of our metaphysical work will be less than satisfactory.

Our denials of error should be considered secondary to our affirmations concerning what is actually true of God and His idea, man, for it is mainly the latter that accomplishes the healing. Mrs. Eddy writes: "Truth is affirmative, and confers harmony. All metaphysical logic is inspired by this simple rule of Truth, which governs all reality." Science and Health, p. 418;
