I am most grateful that Christian Science is a demonstrable, healing Science, applicable to every aspect of life. I have learned and proved through it that prayer heals illnesses, business problems, and difficulties in personal relationships.

About two years ago I was required to make an overseas business trip to a city notorious for its peculiar atmosphere and climatic conditions. It was a much publicized fact that visitors to the area were often afflicted with illnesses of various kinds, particularly if they engaged in more than an average amount of physical exertion. My four-day trip involved a strenuous schedule which included above average physical activities on a visit to a remote portion of the country, as well as a vigorous schedule of meetings with diplomatic and other officials of the United States Government and that country.

On the flight there I had prepared myself for the visit through prayer as described in the first chapter of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. On page 11 she writes: "Prayer cannot change the unalterable Truth, nor can prayer alone give us an understanding of Truth; but prayer, coupled with a fervent habitual desire to know and do the will of God, will bring us into all Truth." The latter portion of this sentence describes the attitude I was seeking to express.
