Forget It!
God, infinite Mind, knows eternally all that is true. He never forgets. So man, His image and likeness, never forgets that which is true. In the spiritual world of reality all is good and never is forgotten. But human beings, viewing as real the unreal world of materiality, often forget what should be remembered and refuse to forget what should be forgiven and forgotten.
Often the unsuspected obstacle lurking behind an unhealed physical condition is lack of forgiveness. The human mind just doesn't like to forgive. Filled with self-justification, self-pity, and resentment, it insists: "It was all his or her fault. Why did he or she do this to me?" Most of us at one time or another have indulged in the self-pity of hurt feelings and its bitter combative twin, resentment. Let's face it; even a mild form of resentment is hate.
In her marvelous article "Love Your Enemies" Mrs. Eddy tells us: "Hate no one; for hatred is a plague-spot that spreads its virus and kills at last. If indulged, it masters us; brings suffering upon suffering to its possessor, throughout time and beyond the grave. If you have been badly wronged, forgive and forget: God will recompense this wrong, and punish, more severely than you could, him who has striven to injure you. Never return evil for evil; and, above all, do not fancy that you have been wronged when you have not been." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 12; So. what to do? The answer, of course, is to forgive and forget. There's a saying that no past hurt is ever really forgiven until and unless it has been forgotten.
