The Simplicity of Applying the Positive Rule

In mathematics, basic rules have to be observed to solve any equation. So it is with scientific mental healing. Its Principle—God—shows that the rule basic to every Christian Science healing includes two fundamental points. One is the allness of God, divine Spirit, including the axiomatic fact of the nothingness of evil. And the other is the present, spiritually perfect nature of man in God's own image and likeness, as revealed in the Bible. It doesn't matter whether the need is one of physical healing or of some other healing. When the spiritual understanding of these two basic points is gained, healing is inevitable.

Mrs. Eddy searched for and found the positive rule of perfect, spiritual causation underlying all the healing works of Christ Jesus. Elucidating this discovery, she writes in Science and Health: "Who would stand before a blackboard, and pray the principle of mathematics to solve the problem? The rule is already established, and it is our task to work out the solution." Science and Health, p. 3;
