Unlocking Potential

As mankind moves into the final years of this century, it is widely recognized that development of human relations and individual potential must parallel the tremendous technological progress realized to date. The prospect of greater development of human potential is exciting.

Although our desire for improvement is encouraging and some human methods have undoubtedly been in a measure constructive, only the study and understanding of the Science of being will unlock the truth of man and reveal our full potential for good. This truth is available through the Bible, that inspired record for all humanity of the unfolding vision of God and man, and through the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, which spiritually interprets the Bible. According to Christian Science man's possibilities are unlimited because man is actually the reflex image and perfect likeness of the heavenly Father, reflecting the qualities of the all-knowing, all-wise God. Christ Jesus demonstrated the full efficacy of this understanding and promised, "For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel." John 5:20;

Unlocking potential cannot be a mere exercise in probing the recesses of the human mind, manipulating thought processes, or analyzing the human personality and abilities. Depending on the latest theories of human behavior limits one's potential to human and material parameters by focusing on the mortal, finite sense of man. Mrs. Eddy's words apply here: "We thank our Father that to-day the uncremated fossils of material systems, already charred, are fast fading into ashes; and that man will ere long stop trusting where there is no trust, and gorging his faith with skill proved a million times unskilful." The People's Idea of God, p. 8;
