Some years ago my daughter, who was then nearly four, had been suffering from asthma, for which the doctors could find no cure. When these attacks occurred, she had high fever and became ill. Compounding the problem was a heart condition. She was given one drug after another. She also had been hospitalized.
At this time I was a devoted, active member of an orthodox church. Although many prayers were offered in my daughter's behalf, she did not recover but had recurring illnesses. I was told that this must be God's will, something I could not accept if God was a loving, merciful Father, as I had been taught to believe.
New neighbors moved in next door, and as I became acquainted with them, I noticed how happy and healthy their children were. Learning that they were Christian Scientists and becoming intrigued with their concept of living, I began asking the mother many questions. She was always willing to talk with me, and I began reading the Christian Science periodicals and finally Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. While I was reading this book, a painful sinus condition I had had from childhood disappeared.
