Dig Up the Roots!
In dealing with inharmony, the root of the trouble has to be uncovered and destroyed. When this is done, discord is removed. Jesus said, "Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up." Matt. 15:13;
In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we find this interesting statement: "The Science of Mind disposes of all evil. Truth, God, is not the father of error. Sin, sickness, and death are to be classified as effects of error." Science and Health, p. 473; Since divine Mind is not the origin of evil or error or of their effects, where do the diseases and the various tragedies that affect mankind come from? Obviously not from God, good, or Mind.
Mortal mind, the fictitious opposite of the one Mind, is the culprit. Now, this false state insists on seeing a material universe and a man made of matter. This supposed mind also appears to control its erroneous concepts. Mortal mind expresses its own beliefs, but these beliefs are not the truth. They cannot make plain the truth of the universe and man. Belief is always changeable. Mortal mind, with its erroneous concepts, is the basic error. It is the root of mankind's problems, and it can be eliminated only by divine Science.
