"Forty years isn't so long!"

The children of Israel longed to reach their destination. They were almost within arm's reach. And yet they didn't actually reach the Promised Land for almost forty more years.

What a jolt I had one day when I realized the same thing had happened to me! I was afflicted with hay fever for almost forty years. But when the healing came through Christian Science, it was complete and permanent. We learn in Science that any wilderness experience preceding healing, whether it is of a long or short duration, can be a rich, growing, regenerative time. And so it was with me. I learned so much about God and my relationship to Him—particularly what real God-given freedom and dominion are—I can honestly relish my entire wilderness experience and say, "Forty years isn't so long!"

We read in the Bible: "One day is with the Lord as a thousand years" 11 Pet. 3:8; and "A thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past....Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep." Ps. 90:4,5;
