Sanctuary

How many of us today would like to find sanctuary from a troubled world! Is there a place of sanctuary, of peace, of harmony for all of humanity? Yes, and it is found in the understanding of the allness of God, good, and the unreality of evil.

There is a clear distinction between the human personality encompassed by the vicissitudes of mortal experience and man, who is spiritual, and who is the perfect reflection of God. Christian Science stresses that there are not two selfhoods, one mortal and the other immortal, but only one, and that one is man, the perfect image of God. There are not two creations, one a disturbed, troubled world and the other God's perfect, spiritual universe. There is only one real creation and that is the harmonious, spiritual creation that God made. In Genesis we read, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Gen. 1:31;

How can one find this perfect sanctuary of spiritual creation? We need only awake to it, for in truth we are forever in it. The Apostle Paul said of God, as Acts records it, "in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring." Acts 17:28; How wonderful to know that man lives in God, good, now and through all eternity! Herein is perpetual sanctuary.
