Inherit Only Good

There is a divine law of inheritance governing our lives. Under this law we are endowed with attributes and characteristics derived from the source of our being. These spiritually inherited qualities as we perceive and exercise them determine our human nature and experience; and since God, divine Principle, is the true source of all being—He is our Father and our Mother, the origin of our substance and intelligence—there is nothing in our heritage to fear or to cause mental or physical deformity, frustration, or suffering. All that God, divine Principle, Love, transmits to us, His offspring, is good. All that we inherit through spiritual law is for our benefit.

God's law of inheritance ensures that we invariably possess every good quality essential to a full, peaceful, happy, harmonious, progressive life. The Psalmist stated the case well when he sang: "The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage."^{ Ps. 16:5, 6;}

The existence and incontrovertibility of the immortal law of spiritual inheritance is a lethal challenge to mortal theories of heredity. God's law is invariably and impartially benign, whereas the so-called law of the human family tree is capricious and frequently malignant. God's law is the only true law, and to recognize this is to be in the position to free oneself from any cruel sentence that the mortal, so-called law of heredity might seem to impose.
