Christian Science is a way of life for me and has met every need

Christian Science is a way of life for me and has met every need. I discovered this practical religion while attending a graduate school geared to social and medical studies. During that time a most disturbing skin eruption, which lasted several months, appeared on both hands. In order to receive my master's degree, I had to pass a medical examination. At that time a friend interested me in Christian Science and I decided, almost stubbornly, to see if this condition could be cleared up through applying Christian Science. Weekly visits to a Christian Science practitioner for help in understanding this new way of life were most helpful, but the condition on my hands did not change.

That summer I went on to another school where several students were housed together in close quarters. The only way I felt free to daily study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly (which the practitioner requested that I do) was to awaken early and read the entire lesson under the covers by flashlight. During that time the condition worsened, but I continued to study and didn't yield to the temptation of fear. By the end of the course the healing was complete. Not only were my hands clear, but no longer was there a trace of stubbornness or a doubting Thomas attitude, but rather just obedience and inspiration. I really began to see what is meant in Isaiah (1:19): "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land."

That was the genesis of my path from sense to Soul. Since the first healing, there have been many, many more—no longer motivated by human will, but with a glimpse of divine understanding that has become clearer and dearer.
