You Have What It Takes to Cope

I was trying to make an appointment with a busy executive. His secretary told me she'd call me when he had an opening. My summons came in the middle of a morning when I was involved as coordinator in a hectic race to make a newspaper deadline. Zero hour for my appointment was the next hour!

At first I felt almost overwhelmed. This appointment was very important to me, and there was no time to give thought to preparation. And how could I leave the urgent work I was involved in? I wondered. Both demands seemed imperative. How could I cope with them?

Mentally I withdrew from the bustle about me into the inner chamber Jesus tells us to enter in order to pray. See Matt. 6:6; I prayed! As I listened for God's guidance, it came to me that what I needed was the true humility to realize I was always the expression of God as His image and likeness and this reflection was always in the present. From now to now, I saw, God was imparting to me everything I needed to meet the needs of each moment. I held to these thoughts from divine Mind as I went back to the urgent demands of my job.
