I haven't known Christian Science very long, but I am sincerely...

I haven't known Christian Science very long, but I am sincerely happy, after years of searching, finally to have found the way that brings me closer to God in daily life, not only upon special occasions. This religion gives existence meaning, based on an understanding of perfect, absolute divine Principle, God, which the individual can make use of, not only for himself but also for mankind.

I had my first spiritual insight following my first few get-togethers with a Christian Science practitioner, when these words from the Bible constantly came to mind (Matt. 7:7): "Seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." The time prior to my finding the truth had been almost a torment. Then, as I commenced to study Science, I had inner security and certainty bringing great joy, and I recognized that such joy is spiritual. No one—nothing—can take it from me. Spiritual joy makes one independent, so he does not become the helpless victim of circumstances and people; it makes one free and self-sufficient.

To be sure, I have up to now only a small understanding of God's truth, even as the servant whom his lord gave only one talent to take care of. But through constant application of this small understanding I have had lovely experiences. On one occasion I was freed from annoying headaches. I read again and again the verse from Psalms (139:3): "Thou compassest my path and my lying down." The pain was persistent, and it was the first time I hadn't used any medication. Then one morning the thought came: "If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Rom. 8:31.) It became clear to me that if God was for me, who or what besides God, good, could have power to rule over me? Didn't God's great love for His idea, man, give me the strongest support? Although there was no immediate relief, and I was very fatigued from lack of sleep, a quiet joy and composure came over me. In the end this inner joy also conquered my physical discomfort.
