Christian Science has been a source of great inspiration and joy...

Christian Science has been a source of great inspiration and joy to me since I turned wholeheartedly to it. I owe much gratitude to our great Master, Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who made this truth practicable for all mankind, and to all devoted students of this teaching. I am glad to express my gratitude publicly.

I had the privilege of having class instruction, and on my return to Nigeria I spent a few days in Lagos before proceeding to Aba. On my arrival home I was told that my wife had left that same day for Lagos with our little child, to welcome me back home and to see off her oldest sister, who had been away to Manchester for two years and had come home for a short visit.

After a few days in Lagos my wife was forced to return to Aba because our child became seriously ill. He had measles and other complications. Every suggestion by my people and others in Lagos to administer drugs or have medical care was rejected by my wife. She said we were Christian Scientists and didn't wish to have medication. She felt that if she could bring the child back home, he would be healed. So she hurried home with the quickest means of transport available and arrived at Aba very late in the night. The illness had done its worst on the child's body, and he seemed quite wasted away.
