When Christian Science found me, I was suffering from many physical ailments. I was a chain smoker, and desperately unhappy in my job.
Christian Science was lovingly and simply presented to me by a woman who came to work for me and evidently discerned my unhappiness.
Some time after I began the study of Science, I had a recurrence of a severe stomach problem. When it did not yield as quickly as I thought it should, I returned to medical treatment. I had X rays, and was told I would have to remain on a diet, take medication, and possibly have surgery, which I'd had on two previous occasions. I remained on the diet and medication for about two weeks. Then I remembered the way my friend had opened my thought to spiritual and decided to write her. I remember that her reply, which I received immediately, closed with words assuring me that she would pray for me. This had a very strengthening effect on me.
