Your Joy

Are you always joyous? You should be and can be, for Christ Jesus said he left us his joy and no man could take it from us. (See John 16:22.)

Jesus also said that if we keep his commandments we will abide in his love, and he added, "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." John 15:11; So if we are obedient and keep close to divine Love, we shall have joy in its fullness. What a promise!

Why is it that we sometimes let false concepts of life and love come in and rob us of our joy? No doubt it is because we do not fully abide in divine Love as Jesus did. Jesus gave confident assurances about joy even though he knew that very shortly he would go through the crucifixion. He saw the nothingness of evil and the allness of God, who is Love, and he knew that he represented Love. Knowing that the Father forever upheld his true being, he could go through this ordeal unscathed by the bitterness and malice expressed toward him. He was proving that death and evil are powerless because Life and Love are omnipotent and eternal. Bitter attacks of error only called forth more love on Jesus' part, resulting in his higher demonstration of God's power.
