I was left alone to raise my son from the time he was nine months old. He was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School at three years of age. When he was about seven, I received a call at my office from the nurse at school, informing me that my son had had an accident on the playground and a nail had pierced his leg. The first thing I did on leaving the office to pick up my son was to call a Christian Science practitioner and ask her to pray for the child, because I knew that God's help was the best for him. She said she would take up metaphysical treatment immediately.
When I met the principal of the school in the hallway, he advised a tetanus shot. However, as I had seen the effectiveness of Christian Science treatment before, I confidently assured him that the boy would have the best of care.
On the way out I told my son I had a cab waiting to take him home and there was prayerful work being done for him. The nail was still in his kneecap.
