REPHIDIM
Exodus 17:1, 4-6
We sometimes pitch our tents in Rephidim
And find no water for our daily need.
We say no prayer and sing no praiseful hymn,
Nor else perform a single selfless deed.
This wilderness of thought, blind to the rock
Of Truth from whence all living waters flow,
Must be illumined that we may unlock
The present good that every heart may know.
And so when lack of any kind seems true,
We turn to God, the fountain of all good,
And thought is then uplifted to review
His present largess for our humanhood.
