The Healing Calm of Soul
Sometimes it may seem we're overwhelmed with tension, fear of disease, or annoyance at having too much to do. We're tempted to explode in order to release the accumulated pressures—to get them "out of our system."
Christian Science can come to us with its practical promise of eternal joy and calm. How can we be calm in the presence of seeming difficulties? An answer to this might lie in the word "seeming." These difficulties and tensions are beliefs only, mirages or illusions of a matter-based mind claiming to be real. In truth, God is all being and all-powerful. Man is His perfect child and expresses the eternal joy and calm of Soul, God. Since Soul is all-inclusive, there is no place where Soul does not exist. We read in Genesis, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Gen. 1:31; Man is the creation of God. Therefore he is complete, perfect, and can only know good, express it and live it as the image of the infinite, wonderful One.
Now you may say, "That is all well and good, but how does it help me get rid of my irritation, my anger, my problem or disease?" Affirming the spiritual fact helps us turn away from a false, personal sense of things and rely on God. In "the scientific statement of being" Mrs. Eddy says, "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."Science and Health, p. 468;
