While we were driving through Spain one year, my little daughter became suddenly ill one evening. I put her in bed, and she became very feverish and delirious, presenting a frightening picture to me, a new student of Christian Science. It was the first time in my study of this Science that I was out of reach of a Christian Science practitioner who could be called on to give prayerful help. The closest at that time were in Paris or London, and we were in a small hotel in a village. No one spoke a word of English, and there was no switchboard.

I knew I would have to turn completely to divine Love for our daughter's help. I shut her door and started to read and study the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, with faith that divine Love would meet this need.

After reading for about three hours I had a most wonderful experience. The room, which was dimly lighted, seemed to become bright with a lovely glow, and I was filled with a feeling of peace, harmony, and joy. I knew my daughter was healed, and when I went in to her, I found her free of the fever, cool and sleeping peacefully. Certainly I was grateful.
