My childhood was one of poverty and sorrow, and so miserable. . .

My childhood was one of poverty and sorrow, and so miserable that I was determined to get out of these straits somehow. At that time my concept of a punishing God was so frightening that I had nightmares. Even though I was very young, I had a firm conviction that only God could bring my release. Therefore, I was always curious about religions.

After I left home and moved to another state, my problems multiplied. I thought, "If the future is going to continue the unhappiness of the past, I'd rather not live." I was exposed to Christian Science, a religion I had never previously heard of, and borrowed Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I could not lay the book down but read for hours at a time. The effect was tremendous. I knew I had found what I had been looking for. The medicine cabinet was emptied immediately. From that moment I knew I had been healed of ulcers, for which I had been under a doctor's care.

How good to know that goodness and love are real, that God is our Father and Mother, and therefore we are never neglected or rejected! Through the help of a practitioner my home was established. With this same practitioner's help my first child was healed of many so-called childhood diseases. I shall always be grateful for her understanding help and support.
