In August of 1941, I began to read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, for the first time. With the first page of the Preface, and then with the next page, I stopped and said to myself, "I'll surely find the truth on this page." Before reading each page I would say the same thing. Suddenly after reading quite a few pages I said aloud, "Why, all I have been reading is the truth!"
What a joy it was to realize this, and that God is the Life of my very being—not only mine but the source of everyone's being. With this beautiful lifted thought many proofs of the healing efficacy of Christian Science were demonstrated daily in my life, and continued to be throughout the years.
This is the third testimony I have sent to the periodicals, and I would like to confirm the first testimony of laying my glasses aside during the time when I first read the textbook. I was Second Reader in a branch church from 1948 to 1951, never missing a Sunday, and read without glasses. Now I am in my third year as First Reader and have not missed a Sunday, reading without glasses.
