Although three testimonies of mine have been published in the periodicals during the past thirty years, the added good that has come to me impels me to share additional blessings. I have testified to the healing of an inharmonious relationship, and to numerous physical healings in our family. Protection and supply have also been demonstrated. All of these healings have remained permanent.

A healing which has since propelled me into a much deeper understanding of God and His relationship with all His children is one for which I shall ever be grateful. While bathing one morning, I discovered a large lump in one of my breasts. I firmly denied that such a condition could be true. Remembering something I had read regarding the importance of not allowing error to grow in thought, I prayed, using this statement in the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 390): "Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin." I fully expected the lump to open, drain, then disappear. But it didn't.

In an endeavor to reverse the argument that a surgical operation would be necessary, I studied references to the word "operation" in Mrs. Eddy's writings, where I found this passage (ibid., p. xi): "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation." I reasoned with myself that to seek medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment would be to forsake the operation of divine Principle, the source of my true being. I knew that for me there was no other healing method to turn to. Because my fear of failure was mounting, I called a Christian Science practitioner to give me treatment.
