While waiting at a train depot, I saw a magazine rack filled with Christian Science literature. I had vaguely heard of Christian Science, and was curious to learn how their periodicals would explain the possibility of healing the sick through mental prayer only, which I secretly thought was sacrilegious.

I selected a Sentinel, and in a short time became absolutely unconscious of my surroundings. After reading three articles straight through I thought, "This is the most absolute truth I have ever envisioned." The whole concept seemed to dispel the religious fears I had held from childhood.

When my wife and I arrived home, I still held the Sentinel tightly clutched in my hand, and later that night I continued reading until I had completed all the articles. As I retired, my heart was bursting with happiness. I was actually conscious of the Christ presence, over and over again saying to myself, "How wonderful!"
