The Unsealed Bible and World Affairs

Government by divine Principle—what a challenge! What an opportunity! Sometimes decisions must be made as to what course to take, where to turn, which way to go. It makes all the difference to know that there is always an unerring, informing Principle to govern and direct us when our hearts are ready to listen.

Individuals and nations are yearning for inspired direction and leadership. The world longs to be assured that there's an answer for all its problems: its tragic wars, its careless morality, its heartbreaking crimes and kidnappings. The Bible is alive with answers to questions facing us today. Mary Baker Eddy discovered in it glimpses of the divine laws that base the Science of being or Christian Science. She widens the horizons of our view of the Scriptures with these words in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "The Bible contains the recipe for all healing." Science and Health, p. 406;

King Solomon is reported to have restored a newborn infant to its rightful mother. Was not this a demonstration of the divine law of justice and wisdom, revealing what belonged to whom and why? (See I Kings 3:16–27.) Christ Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fishes. Was not this the appearing of the economy of Spirit—setting aside the economics of matter with its limits and the carnal mind's decimal-point thinking? (See Matt. 14:15–21.) And later when the Master talked to and enlightened the Samaritan woman—someone supposed to be despised and shunned in that society — he penetrated the cruel walls of discrimination and prejudice with the universal law of Love. (See John 4:7–29.) These were not miracles. They were breakthroughs into the realm of abundance, limits lifted, separation healed. The Bible puts it this way: "The righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God." Eccl. 9:1;
