THE CHRIST COMES
to each of us.
Sometimes
like a comet
blazing with
millennial suddenness.
But more times
like the new day which
always
waits beyond the
darkened rim of earth.
Then we,
like clouds which
from empurpled gloom
brighten slowly
until
flushed with glory
they greet the sun's rising,
may know
with serenest confidence
that
no matter how cold or long
a night of discord may seem
to troubled sense,
the radiant Christ
also waits for us
ready
with gracious healing
warm loving
sure guiding.
Our need is simply
the dawn-expectancy
of earth/sky
and
the turning toward!
