The Real Trouper
Peter lived in a little community that had a summer theater. A professional summer stock company came out and put on plays. Peter loved to go there when vacation time came along and watch them build and paint sets for the shows and sometimes help them when he could.
One day the director asked him if he would like to take part in a musical that they were planning to do, in which they needed a boy his age. It was a big part, he said. He would have to sing and dance as well as learn lines. Peter was a little concerned whether he could do it. He went home to his mother and told her about it.
"Why, Peter," said Mother, "I think it is wonderful that they asked you!"
