THE DAMASCUS ROAD

To visit Damascus
and walk the road Paul walked
the tourist in me yearned,
but the Christian knew
I have traveled that road
which leads to binding neighbors
with strands of misconception,
and seen that light
which, making blindness felt,
advances the new birth.
