How Is Your Attitude?
St. Paul made a potent statement concerning what one's attitude should be: "Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." I Cor. 10:31; The Master, Christ Jesus, said, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." John 6:63;
One's attitude often determines the extent of his success. But words may hide unwillingness and other negative attributes. Words are clothing for thought. They may hide even intense hatred toward another—toward a member of one's family even, toward an employer or a neighbor. In the hidden depths of consciousness often dwell vicious attitudes of the carnal mind that thwart success. Many times they are the direct cause of tenacious illnesses.
An attitude of constant expectancy of good can change one's whole experience. But some people are afraid of good. If good occurs, a sort of superstitious sense tempts them to fear that some evil will follow. This is a mistaken attitude. It can be stopped. It needs to be stopped if one is to accomplish something worthwhile, to grow spiritually, to be a comfort both to himself and others.
