I first was introduced to Christian Science when I was beginning...

I first was introduced to Christian Science when I was beginning training as a medical nurse. As I studied the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I knew this was the answer, but I had to let go of many false beliefs and limitations. I had believed that I was a sinner born in an unholy and unhappy estate. I also knew my Bible and that Christ Jesus said (Matt. 5:48): "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." It was hard to believe both concepts true.

I finished nurses training and married the man who introduced me to Christian Science. Before we married, we decided we would attend the Church of Christ, Scientist, and have our children attend Sunday School. My husband's patience and the inquiring mind of our first child led me to a deep study of Science and finally to radical reliance on God. Through this reliance I had the other children in our family through natural childbirth. Two of them were delivered at home.

Fever, communicable diseases, athlete's foot, concussion, back injury, a crushed toe, congestion, temper, and upset stomach have been healed through prayer to God. Once one of the children dove into the shallow end of a pool and cut his head. Within three days, when we returned to our home from a weekend trip, the cut, which had been a wide one, was completely healed. There was a time when one of the children, who was just a toddler, appeared to have passed on. It seemed he had swallowed something. I knew his Life was God and God was his Life, for he was God's reflection. The other children's faith and trust in God's care for their small brother supported me, and the healing was complete. Today he is a very active, joyous child.
