Christian Scientists Don't Ignore Evil

Ignoring evil won't destroy it. Merely turning one's back on it won't cause it to go away.

However, some people believe that Christian Scientists are guilty of doing just that—that when a Scientist denies reality to evil he is foolishly attempting to run away from reality. But this is not so. Students of this Science well know that running away from a problem, or merely ignoring it, leaves it free to grow. They see clearly that no psychological gimmick will conquer evil, or error, and restore harmony. Mrs. Eddy puts it succinctly: "Error, left to itself, accumulates." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 348;

Christian Science teaches that regardless of appearances to the contrary evil was never actually created, because the creator of all is God, infinite good, who knows and produces nothing unlike Himself. This logical reasoning is fully supported by the Bible. We read in the book of Genesis, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Gen. 1:31; The prophets and apostles understood and proved something of the unalterable love and goodness of God and the perfection of His creation. And Christ Jesus, the greatest healer of all time, destroyed sin, disease, and death by understanding the allness of good and rejecting as illusion whatever contradicted the divine power and presence.
