It is with joy and love for God, Christ Jesus, and Mrs. Eddy...

It is with joy and love for God, Christ Jesus, and Mrs. Eddy that I submit the following experiences. Upon entering the armed services, I found that I could no longer conveniently sidestep the challenges of tobacco, alcohol, and promiscuity. All confrontations were resolved after I earnestly studied to clearly understand man's relationship with God. The real change came with the realization that God works not through me alone but through all men and they all know and appreciate this fact. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Spiritual perception brings out the possibilities of being, destroys reliance on aught but God, and so makes man the image of his Maker in deed and in truth" (Science and Health, p. 203).

During my tour I experienced numerous examples of divine protection. Several were aboard aircraft over friendly and unfriendly countries. Another took place when a trailer loaded with live explosives broke loose and spilled in my area.

Perhaps the most thrilling experience occurred while I was stationed on an island in the Pacific. One evening, when I was downtown, a young native on foot darted in front of my vehicle. The scene was alarming, and I asked for assistance. Meanwhile a qualified person moved the young man from the street. The situation became tense when the military and civilian police disagreed as to jurisdiction. The growing crowd sided with the civilian police. During this time the young man was removed to the hospital via local taxi without his name being recorded.
