SEEING GOOD IN GOOD

Have you heard the phrase
"See the good in him"
and thought as I did
to find some small token
of graspable goodness
in among the other repelling traits
that disgust, annoy, and impose—
hoping to be satisfied with a sample of God's man?

But the command
"See good in good" allows
for no partial seeing
of man as mixture—bad and good—
but demands the embracing of all good
as the only heldfast seeing.
