A Revelation

Studying the first chapter of Genesis in the Bible one morning, a student of Christian Science read once again, as she had read many times before, the last verse, which begins with the words, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."

This time, however, the revelation came to her, "Why! God made me, and so I am very good!" She realized that she had not previously specifically included herself in that very good creation of God. Now gratitude filled her heart. "How wonderful I am," she thought, "in my true spiritual being! I am included in that term man, made in God's own image!"

She read with renewed inspiration the answer Mrs. Eddy gives in Science and Health to the question, "What is man?" The first sentence of the answer reads, "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements." And further along is the statement: "Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science. Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique." Science and Health, p. 475; As she read these inspiring words, a severe headache that had resisted her prayerful thoughts vanished, and she felt a new sense of well-being.
